Since 1980, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA) and the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) have been collecting data on catastrophic weather events that incur costs of one billion dollars or more (usually more). The dashboard below uses public NCEI data to visualize the number and cost of billion-dollar disasters by state over the past five years.
